I can't stay calm when you use Arial for that.

Here's a weird thing:

There's a booth in the Blue Banana in Kensington Market that sells those "Keep Calm and Carry On" posters that are popular of late. I took both of these pictures in that booth today:

Keep Calm Keep Calm and Use Arial

The same poster, the same colors, the same price, but one is inexplicably set in Arial instead of being a reproduction of the original poster. What?

And of all things to redo it in, Arial?

Re: not a font dork

Check out the "K" and "M", for instance. The "R" is what caught my eye, but that's because the "R" is one shortcut for telling Arial from Helvetica -- so I can spot an Arial "R" at some distance.

rpkrajewski has it, though -- Gill Sans, the font of the original, projects "wartime England", and using a typeface that hadn't been designed yet when the poster was produced is grating, especially when it would be easy to use the right one.

Especially since it's ostensibly a reproduction!
