Sitting at home
Since nyxie and I are sitting zazen at home regularly now (and we're full members of the Toronto Zen Centre now, did I mention that?), we bought a zafu and support cushion for home. And since we had a little wooden Buddha, and we like to burn incense when we're sitting -- it makes a good timer and it smells like the zendo! -- I decided to use a little wicker chest to make a little home altar for us to sit in front of.

So yesterday while checking out the Queen West Art Crawl on our way back from the Centre's yard sale (hee!) we stopped in The Paper Place and got some handcrafted paper to use on it.

Here's the end result:

Our home altar

(I need to cover up that plug somehow, maybe a picture of Kapleau roshi and a picture of Kannon on the other side.)

At the same time I wanted to post a picture of myself doing zazen to my DailyBooth so I had nyxie take one. You can have it too!

I'm pleased with my posture there although I need to get my chin down further and my shoulders a little more relaxed.

Incidentally in that picture I am wearing my new Thai Fisherman's Pants which are the comfiest pants in the world. I wish I'd bought a pair at the beginning of the summer. They'll be great for zazen at home (at the Centre, I'll have a robe soon) and maybe yoga and definitely for lounging.

Seconded, and you look so relaxed.

Mendel, I am happy you are settling into a practice that makes your life shiny.
